The Delhi government has made it compulsory for all private construction companies operating in the state capital to follow 14-point guidelines when carrying out construction work to avoid dust pollution.
Dust in cities is mainly caused by demolition and construction activities. Demolition and construction materials are stored/transported without adequate cover and precautions, causing severe air pollution.

The Delhi government has held a review meeting with all real estate developers in the state. The suggestions of representatives of private real estate developers were also accepted. The minister said: “All private agencies should appoint an employee on their construction sites to see if the standards are being met or not.”
Many private agencies are also involved in construction work in the city. We have met over 50 such companies, including L&T, Shapoorji, and others. “These private construction sites were asked to comply with the 14-point dust prevention guidelines within 15 days,” Rai said.
According to the GNCTD and CENTRAL POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD guidelines, there are binding guidelines that must be followed by all construction sites in order to control exposure to dust.
• No government, agency, contractor, contractor or another person may store/dump construction materials or rubble on paved roads.
• Beyond the paved road, the storage area for construction materials or rubble should be physically demarcated by officials of all relevant authorities/companies to ensure that free movement is not obstructed / uncomfortable for visitors. pedestrians.
• Construction material should be covered with a tarp and all other precautions should be taken to ensure that dust particles from such storage do not affect air quality.
